Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you may have noticed over the last week or so an interesting phenomenon: The massive spike in unruly, often confrontational town hall meetings focused on the issue of health care.
You may also have noticed the extent to which a great many of those engaged in the health care debate in this country—including President Obama, various Members of Congress and a diversity of advocacy groups—have been caught off-guard by the strong (frequently opposition) views being exhibited with regard to this subject.

Facebook and Twitter Growth Wars

After Twitter’s year-long phenomendal 950% growth rate (including incredible February and March where it nearly tripled its users from 7+ million to 19+ million users) it appears that Facebook is turning the growth tide. The numbers show that Facebook grew more than twice as fast as Twitter in July by growing 14% from June where Twitter only grew 6% in that same period. With Facebook revamping itself to be more newsfeed focused earlier this year, the recent growth rates, the purchase this week of FriendFeed and the coming launch of Facebook Lite, Twitter is bound to react, but how? Be on the look-out.

It looks like August recess will be anything but for members of Congress returning home for the traditional summer slate of town hall meetings, parades, and other public gatherings. A quick Google Video search turns up a rash of recent hostile encounters for members of Congress at recent town meetings.
